Scream is a horror movie made in 1996. The opening scene consists of loud screaming from in the background with a slicing of a knife type of noise. In the beginning of the opening scene it starts off as a young girl in her house alone. The phone rings and when she answers she explains that he has called the wrong number and hangs up. After that, he calls again trying to apologize but she hangs up again. She begins to make some popcorn in the microwave and another call happens. She answers the phone again and continues to talk to the stranger while he begins to flirt with her through the phone by asking what her favorite scary movie is. She answers and then guesses his favorite movie. They continue to talk over the phone until he says, “I want to know who I'm looking at.” The music drops into a suspenseful sound and panic rises in her face where the audience then knows something bad is about to happen. The girl begins to look around questioning what is going on while still on the phone. She ends up hanging up on him and when she does, he calls back angrily. Her voice rises in panic and the music becomes more suspenseful. The more she hung up the angrier he would get. The angrier he got the louder the suspenseful music would play, and the colors in the background would change into a dark red but not too much on where you can’t see what’s happening. The colors and sounds of screaming help the audience know that the person calling is a bad guy, and that the screaming foreshadows how she will be when he may “kill” her depending on the end of the suspense. The audience can know from the beginning of the movie that something bad is going to happen. That the movie is about someone dying or a killer considering the movie is called scream. And since it starts off with screaming and knife slicing noises as if the knife is being sharpened to be used, they can tell that someone may die. It gives a hint on who may die in the beginning when the random number kept calling the girl, and the more she hung up the more the music played. The louder the music played and the faster the colors in the room changed. The louder the man got the brighter the red in the room would get. Showing suspense which makes the audience sit on the edge of their seat. Towards the end it shows that he was by the door and calling her out for being stupid for answering the door. She explains that she will call her boyfriend but the man has better plans it seems. He tells the girl to look on the patio and she slowly turns the light on but then the scene ends.  

Jaws is a 1975 horror film. In the opening scene it has underwater sounds with a video of a shark swimming in the water. In the beginning it shows the production people unlike movies now where it shows them at the end of the movies. The music starts off with the famous shark sound of danananaan which allows the audience to foreshadow that the movie is something about a shark and that something bad is going to happen just by the beginning sound. It completely starts off with loud music around the ocean. A bunch of people are around a fire, drinking, dancing and singing. Someone is sitting on the log playing a guitar while others are talking to each other. One of the girls that were sitting down got up and went into the trail that leads to the beach. A guy that seems to like her follows her but is slow and falls a lot because he is drunk. She beats him there and gets into the water before he does. She swims out a good length while he is attempting to take his clothes off and talking to himself about not being drunk. Strange but slow piano music begins to play while the girl is in the water. It shows a camera angle from under the water going up to her under her feet with suspenseful music playing but it’s quiet music. But the closer the camera gets the louder the music goes. The music goes into the danananana song when sharks come. It allows the audience to know that a shark is near. It goes silent for a second and then the girl gets pulled under the water. She is screaming for help and calling the guy's name but there is no answer. She gets dragged in and out of the water, while screaming and choking on the water. The blood and screaming from her shows the audience the obvious. That she is being attacked by a shark at that moment. But the guy she was with doesn’t even realize it. It shows him lying on the beach passed out from all the drinks he had drank. It goes back to the girl screaming and for a second it stops and then she gets dragged completely under after one last final scream. The water slowly starts moving like normal and it gets very quiet. The sun slowly stats rising, and the girl was gone. As if she was never even there in the first place. When watching the opening scene each time something suspenseful like the shark creeping up to her, or when the camera went underwater, and the music got silent, but it was slightly still there. It allowed the audience to think ahead and say in their heads that “oh, I know what’s about to happen.” But it also confuses the audience because the music stops for a minute when she is in the water and then it starts when she gets dragged and then stops again when she is gone.
